The Shepherd's Pillow

The 100% Untreated - Chemicle Free

Washed with plant based soaps, Canadian wool in The Shepherd's Pillows and duvets are custom carded into dense layers. This provides the greatest possible comfort by eliminating lumps and unevenness.  Other wool pillows will have small balls of wool in them and because of this that pillow will become lumpy, separate when you put  your head down and not give your neck the support it needs.

BEWARE - if you find a wool duvet or pillow that says it is washable or they use Superwash wool then it means it has been treated with chemicals to make it washable.   It will no longer be dust mite free and the benefits of the wool are greatly lessened.   Cheaper is not always better.

Hand crafted to last a lifetime, attention is paid to every detail, with box-stitch construction and bias tape edging gives my wool bedding the classic finishing touch. The wool is all one piece when sewn down, it will not shift and you will not have any thick or thin spots

Dust Mite Free Pillows & Duvets
Dust mites can't live in wool due to microscopic bristles on the wool fibers.  Wool ranks far above all other products (including cotton, down, kapok, and buckwheat bedding) in its ability to resist dust mites.  Dust mites find  wool inhospitable. Some products labeled hypoallergenic use chemicals to achieve that end.

Anti-Microbial & Anti-Bacterial
Wool resists bacteria. It is both antimicrobial and antibacterial.  It is great for alleviating allergies. Even products that are labeled "hypoallergenic" (including down products that have undergone massive wash techniques to get rid of the dust mites) will not be able to be dust mite free for long.  It will naturally attract dust mites overtime.

Naturally Fire Resistant
Wool is fire resistant, providing a safe sleeping environment. Wool does not catch on fire and actually acts as a natural fire retardant.

Wool is a natural material

Wool is grown, not made in a lab.  Wool surpasses synthetic fill in terms of quality and durability.  The ecological footprint of wool is better than cotton and down.  Another factor that makes wool the best is the process in which wool is taken from the animal. Down bedding comes from the poultry industry. The bird is used for its meat while the feathers are plucked for bedding.  In some cases the ducks are plucked live.  Sheep, however, are not harmed in the shearing process. Simply stated, the sheep get a "haircut" and the coat of fleece grows back annually.  Wool is a sustainable product and helps small farmers make a living

The WORLDS super fiber is Wool

Wool Thermo-Regulates and is remarkably comfortable in all seasons. In the winter it warms you without overheating or causing ‘clamminess’. Conversely, in warmer seasons, it actually helps to keep you cool by wicking moisture away from your skin. This capability makes wool the ideal fiber for bedding as it helps your body to maintain a comfortable temperature throughout the night — regardless of the season and weight of the wool.  That is why I only sell one weight.  Wool is the most breathable filling material available. It actually helps to regulate your body temperature.   Wool is superior with regards to its comfort and performance qualities.
